Eat Local West Michigan launching unique Culinary Tours & Soil to Plate Dinners in Spring 2017!
Our Culinary Tours will consist of adventuring out and about in the bountiful state of Michigan.
Come along as we explore farm fresh ingredients being used in local venues; whether it be a mom and pop eatery or a five star restaurant, we will be learning amazing stories and connecting with local chefs and artisans and witnessing their passion for sourcing locally grown ingredients in their earth-to-plate menus. It’s not just about the food, as we will learn on these culinary adventures. It’s how the ingredients tell their own story and how that story resonates with each person eating the ingredients and what those ingredients represent…something much larger than a plate of food. If you buy the best ingredients, you have to help the ingredients express themselves and use them to their fullest advantage….hence our pursuit to find those chefs that “get that” philosophy in their menus and connect our palates to their colorful and flavorful visions. Our tours will consist of 4 to 6 stops to explore our palates with enough food for a full lunch or dinner. Private group (10 or more) and public tours will be offered. Stay tuned for ticketing information and upcoming dates.
Our Culinary Tours will also be offering adventures out to local farms and specialty producers on various dates. Chasing after the best flavor means chasing after the best ingredients and chasing after the best farmers. Our farm tours will be exploring up to 3 to 4 farms where we will learn the stories of our local farms, educate ourselves on sourcing our ingredients locally and where to find the freshest produce for our plates. We are striving to build and strengthen connections throughout every aspect of the food system and the dialogue begins at the place where everything has deep roots…..our local farms. Keep checking back with us for our first FARM TOUR date and locations. We hope you will join us on these amazing culinary journeys.
We are striving our best to appreciate nature. Integrity of the ingredients that our placed before us should never be lost. Let’s come together and appreciate the bounty before us at farm-to-table dinners in the midst of local farmer’s fields and farms. Showing our appreciation of our local farmers and the hard work they put into every step; from planting the seed, watching the seed struggle and survive while nurturing every step deserves our acknowledgement and sincere thanks. Eat Local West Michigan will be seeking out local farms throughout the area, connect some talented chefs who are inspired by the bounty in Michigan to these local farms and together put together some culinary events you surely will not want to miss. Stay tuned!
