This morning was busy at my 8-5 job. Morning meeting over at Feeding America for the hunger walk check distribution, then a lunch with church planters, then my vacation started at 1 PM today. It was nice to relax before heading over to pick up my CSA share. On the way home I had a nagging feeling that I had forgotten something. Oh wait, the Thursday West Michigan linky party!

For many of us, CSA season has started and we are drowning in greens. At last week’s pickup I received: 1 bok choy, 1 bunch radishes, 1 bunch green onions, 2 heads lettuce, 1 head frisee, 1 lb spinach, 1 1/4 lb mixed greens. I have taken to eating lettuce like potato chips.
Now that strawberries are here, my thoughts turn to rhubarb strawberry jam. And canning in general, actually. We ran out of salsa months ago and are using up the rest of the pasta sauce. I’ve been hearing good things about Reserve for awhile now. Since I love wine and keep reading about charcuterie in the foodie world, the husband and I decided to try it out for an impromptu date night.
It’s that time of week to showcase the West Michigan blogosphere! There are two things I’m super excited about for this weekend. #1, strawberries are here! Limited quantities at Fulton Street Farmer’s Market, so be sure to get there early. #2, the Local First Street Party, which showcases local food, beer, and music. Be there or be square.

I’m so excited to see culinary tours popping up in West Michigan. The latest I’ve been made aware of is Hungry Village Tours, which offers both walking and driving tours.
