Monday, June 25, the Prime Time Brewers held their annual beer & food pairing event at Rockford Community Center. As always, these home brewers showed that they are as artistic with their food as they are with their beer!
The offerings, served potluck-style, included:
- Belgian BBQ Glazed Chicken
- Mac & Cheese made with American Pale Ale and Cascade hops
- Gingerbread Oatmeal Stout Cake with Caramel Saison Sauce
- Quinoa cooked with brown ale, mushrooms, onions, garlic and carrot
- Spicy BBQ Beans made with an Oaked Barleywine
- Kielbasa & Kraut slow cooked in pale ale
- Mushroom & Pea Risotto accented with a pint of Belgian Triple
- Sliders: Porter braised pot roast with chipotle pepper & Pepper Jack cheese
- Cole slaw with IPA dressing
I sampled a little bit of everything, so I can confidently say that there wasn’t a bad dish to be had. Especially good was the gingerbread oatmeal stout cake with caramel saison sauce, which blew away the competition to take first place.
If you love beer and food, consider joining the Prime Time Brewers.
We have meetings the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm. We also gather informally the first Thursday of the month for what we call “Thursty Thirsday” at one of the local beer bars or breweries, where we enjoy Happy Hour . Our members are first time brewers all the way up to national award winners. We are an American Homebrewers Association sanctioned club. We participate in AHA functions, such as Learn to Homebrew Day, Big Brew and Mead Day. We have three major club activities during the year, our annual picnic in August, Club Pig Roast in September, and our Christmas Party/Auction in December. Our dues are $15 for the first year and $20 after that. Your membership card gets you 10% off homebrew supplies from our local vendors. Check this website for times and dates of our meetings and functions. You do not have to be a member to attend meetings.
