I was just thinking about how it would be nice to do a quick getaway with my husband; I even put a call out on Twitter for ideas. Then someone found this site by searching for Valentine’s Getaways in West Michigan, so I knew that an email to my friend Dianna over at Promote Michigan NEWS was in order. Sure enough, she sent me lots of great info.
Of course I already posted about Taste the Passion which is up in the Leelanau  Peninsula Feb. 5 & 6. Wine, chocolate, what’s not to love?
If you’d prefer to make the trek to Traverse City a little later in the month, Romancing the Riesling is going on Feb. 19 & 20 featuring the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula. Food paired with Riesling? Yes, please. Oh and there is a six course paired wine dinner at Stella’s that Friday night for $80 a pop; and a wine seminar on Saturday for $25 a pop. Learn to tell the difference between the various wine regions. (I personally love the minerality found in Michigan wines though!)
If you’re more into chocolate than wine, check out this delicious list of chocolate events around the region.
Ever wonder about the sexual lives of animals? Me either, but the Zoorotica event at Binder Park Zoo sounds quite interesting. In addition to learning things they didn’t teach you in health class, you’ll get hors d’oeuvres. $70 per couple.
If a more traditional nice dinner or hotel package is to your taste, check out the listing over at the West Michigan Tourism Association website.
What will YOU be doing for Valentine’s Day?
