Next week I’ll be attending the Making It In Michigan conference at Michigan State, an annual event where individuals can determine if their product can pass the virtual market validation test, put their product in front of hundreds of key food and agricultural buyers at the tradeshow, or attend educational sessions covering strategies in recipe expansion, choosing the right co-packer, improving overall food safety, and marketing and finding the ideal customer for your product.
There are so many reasons I’m excited about this conference. One, I am convinced that agriculture and local foods are a sustainable way to grow our economy. Second, I have many friends who would love to enter the food product business (somewhat related, my husband is working to develop a concept for a microbrewery). Finally, I’m just looking forward to seeing all the Michigan producers! I’m sure I’ll discover all kinds of tasty treats made here in Michigan, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
So how about you? Is there a product you’re dreaming about making or do you have a favorite Michigan product?
