When the Hillis family opened the Live Gluten Free Bakery & Café in early 2015 they knew it would be well-received – but they weren’t prepared for such a successful start.
Since opening last spring the sales at the Live Gluten Free Bakery & Cafe have steadily increased beyond expectations, the number of employees has tripled, and they have continued to introduce new products daily. Their service area has also increased. They have attracted customers and fulfilled orders from as far away as Florida, Pennsylvania, and beyond.
“We have experienced an overwhelmingly positive response to our products right here in Norton Shores, and beyond,” said Sandi Hillis, the owner of Live Gluten Free Bakery & Cafe. “People are starting to understand what it means to go gluten free and that it isn’t just a fad.”
In fact, gluten sensitivity has been proven to affect more than just those who have Celiac Disease, an autoimmune disorder that damages the small intestine and the body’s ability absorb nutrients. In addition to contributing to overall inflammation within the body, those suffering from gluten sensitivity may experience symptoms that are similar to irritable bowel syndrome, with abdominal pain, and bloating. Other symptoms include brain fog, fatigue, headache, and joint and muscle pain.
While their breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, as well as their desserts at the Live Gluten Free Bakery & Cafe, are intended for those suffering from Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivity, they are also perfect for those who are just searching for a restaurant that offers high quality fresh food. The store is the first 100 percent gluten free bakery and café with a storefront in West Michigan that sells everything from cupcakes and quiche, to pasta carbonara and poppy seed chicken salad wraps. All of the products in their bakery and café can be shipped nationwide. They also cater weddings and corporate events.
The Live Gluten Free Bakery & Café is located at 1062 E. Sternberg Road in Norton Shores. They are open from Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you would like to learn more about Live Gluten Free Bakery & Café visit: http://www.liveglutenfreebakery.com/
