Wolfgang’s: Get the Meat Sweats for Breakfast {Restaurant Review}

"Cooper" $7.77 A skillet of seasoned redskin potatoes, onion, green peppers, bacon, turkey and cheddar cheese topped with three over-easy eggs and hollandaise and served with your choice of toast.

Last Sunday, the husband and I wanted to go somewhere different for breakfast. “Have we been to Wolfgang’s?” I asked. I’d heard about it but couldn’t quite remember where it was. “Yes,” he said. “We haven’t been there in awhile. Let’s go! They have a lot of meat. It’s like the opposite of Gaia’s.”

six.one.six {Restaurant Review}

View from the jdek

About a month ago I had lunch at six.one.six as part of a culinary tour of West Michigan. Six.one.six is one of those restaurants that is known locally as being locally-sourced and seasonal, so it’s surprising that it’s taken me this long to try it out.

There’s Nothing as Sweet as Local Honey

Wooden honey dipper coated in delicious honey

This week’s Eat Local Challenge from Local First is to explore local honey. Those who have tried raw, local honey will never buy the bear again! But where to find it?

Go Nuts Over Lush Gourmet Foods

A few weeks ago, Bisera contacted me wondering if I’d like to review her nuts. With flavors like hot curry and coffee I was intrigued. After tasting them, I was not disappointed.

The Irony of Fair Food

I’m starting to see advertisements for county fairs. Even though I haven’t been to one in years, I always fondly remember the food: Elephant ears, caramel apples, and, of course, cotton candy.

If Grand Rapids were a sandwich, what would it be?

Using sandwich as an art form, how would you embody all that is Grand Rapids? Local businesses are rising to that challenge, and you can help decide which creation gets exclusive rights to being “the official sandwich of Grand Rapids.”

Reserve: Delicious and A Little Intimidating {Restaurant Review}

Artisan Cheeseburger13 (limited availability) Benton’s bacon, Kobe & grassfed beef ground daily, pickled red onion, arugula, garlic mayo, choice of cheese, pork fat fries.

I’ve been hearing good things about Reserve for awhile now. Since I love wine and keep reading about charcuterie in the foodie world, the husband and I decided to try it out for an impromptu date night.

Amore Trattoria Italiana {Restaurant Review}

SAMSUNG

This was my second visit to Amore, the first was a few months ago for a Slow Food West Michigan Potawatomi Convivium meeting. When I saw on FaceBook that they were featuring soft-shell crabs and Michigan asparagus, I talked my husband into heading out last Friday.

Ladies Night Out at the Melting Pot

A few weeks ago, my friends Donielle and Katie and I were invited to a networking event at The Melting Pot. What did we three local food bloggers think of it?

The Green Well {Restaurant Review}

The Green Well

A funny thing happened on the way to meet my friend Jolon from SavvyChic Savings for lunch. She asked where we could meet, and I said “well, I SHOULD pick somewhere new so I can blog about it, but I really want to go to The Green Well.” Turns out, though, I HADN’T reviewed it yet! Must be one of those things I just meant to do but didn’t, so I’m going to rectify that.
