It’s that time of year for the Grand Rapids International Wine, Beer & Food Festival! November 17-19, you can sample wine and beer, great food, participate in seminars, and check out the various booths.

The Michigan Beer Guild recently sent me a list of the new harvest beers from our fine state; I edited the list to highlight West “ish” Michigan offerings–check ‘em out!

Last weekend, my husband and two other couples and I participated in Dining in the Vines at Bowers Harbor Vineyard, featuring a paired wine dinner by Chef Eric from the Boathouse Restaurant. The experience was a foodie’s dream.

I first heard about Valentine Vodka (imported from Detroit) at the Wine & Food festival last fall. Then, I was reminded of it as I stood at Art of the Table trying to find a last minute Valentine’s Day gift. (I bought the husband a bottle). Although I’m not a huge vodka drinker, it was very smooth. Now, I hear they won an award!

In case you haven’t heard, beer and food pairings are all the rage. And since West Michigan has the best of both, local pairings are just heavenly!

For today’s post I wanted to showcase the bars and restaurants that carry Michigan beer. There are many more that carry Michigan beer than wine, although that’s a story for another day
As I started researching, I discovered that I’m A Beer Hound has already done the research for me!

Whenever we take a growler of my husband’s homebrew to a party of non-homebrewers, people are astonished that it tastes so . . . good! I’m sure they hear “homebrew” and think of the skunky stuff their friend in college made in the closet with a Mr. Beer Kit.
