The Green Well {Restaurant Review}

A funny thing happened on the way to meet my friend Jolon from SavvyChic Savings for lunch. She asked where we could meet, and I said “well, I SHOULD pick somewhere new so I can blog about it, but I really want to go to The Green Well.” Turns out, though, I HADN’T reviewed it yet! Must be one of those things I just meant to do but didn’t, so I’m going to rectify that.

Since Jolon had a coupon from the Local First coupon book (of course she did . . . ) we got a free appetizer. We decided to go with the cheese tray.

Local Cheese Tasting ($11. 99) assorted Michigan hand crafted cheeses•fresh fruit•chutneys• toast points•local honey•candied nuts

It was divine. I really do need to learn how to put together a proper cheese tray at home, because I have found myself loving these in restaurants.

Jolon ordered the salad:

Green Well Salad ($5. 99 sm, $7. 99 lg) avocados•peas•asparagus•cucumbers•broccoli•arugula• herb vinaigrette•Lakeview sharp cheddar

I ordered the vegetable pilaf with goat cheese.

It was a lunch special and I forgot to write down the description, but it was brown rice (cooked very well, a great texture) with vegetables and baked goat cheese on top of a tomato sauce. The food was excellent.

It was very packed, as per usual, and the service was OK. Not spectacular, but I’m rather picky in that department. We’ve gone several times for lunch meetings or evening meetings (yes, I go to a lot of meetings) and I’ve never been disappointed with the food.
