Here’s another cool business I discovered at the Making It In Michigan Conference! This one features ‘Good-for-you’ Organic & Gluten Free Products for Kids.

Meet Natalie Bauss and Katy Scheffler—two moms on a mission. Their mission: to educate and provide their customers with top-of-the-line, good-for-you body and skin care products that parents can feel good about giving their kids.
“We do not use any parabens, phthalates or any other toxic ingredients,” explains Natalie. Natalie, who is a Board certified Esthetician, has worked in the cosmetics industry for more than 20 years. She’s also crazy about organics. “I grew up spending hours in health food stores, reading labels and learning all I could about organic products.” Now Natalie lives with her husband on an organic farm in Lowell, Michigan. They grow organic fruits and vegetables and raise free-range chickens and alpacas.
“I discovered organics through a different need,” tells Katy. Katy and her family live in Rockford, Michigan, where they shop together at the local Farmers Market. They’re also a part of a community food cooperative. One reason for the need to be organic, Katy’s family has a wide range of food allergies including lactose, gluten and yeast. “I want my kids to have normal lives and eat foods they really enjoy,” she says. “Eliminating the allergens is easy; it’s finding foods that are equally as pleasing to replace them that are the challenge.”
Along the way, both Natalie and Katy learned that unhealthy ingredients lurk in nonfood products too, particularly in body and skin care products. “My girls love to paint their nails,” explains Katy, “But in most nail polish, there are harmful chemicals that they can inhale and absorb.” So together they set out to find chemical free products to replace the harmful versions. With their Keeki™ Pure & Simple line, Natalie and Katy are helping to bring healthy alternatives to other concerned Moms.
